Generating leads in social media is hard work because it’s work. It takes time to create relationships with other people, it takes time to plan your social media campaigns and it takes time to generate free leads.
So really, these leads aren’t free if you are spending time to generate them.
In home and small business industry you’re spending money on generating traffic to your offer, blog or capture page; or time which you invest personally to create a brand and attract a crowd.
As a stay at home mom of 4 my time is very…. very tight, in addition my marketing budget is just as tight. There isn’t that much that I can put aside to advertise, unless it’s a proven strategy I used prior that I trust will produce results.
Therefore, I have to be very wise in how I spend my marketing dollars. But I also have to be wise in how I spend my social media hours!!!
This is a very important subject because Facebook and twitter are great platforms that can help you grow your business, your brand and your list. But to do it correctly you must be very smart in how you use your time.
Here are some tips on how you can eliminate time wasting and maximize effectiveness of your social media efforts:
- Plan out your tweets and your Fb shares. Write out several ideas for the week and than post them occasionally to your status.
- Put aside time specifically for meeting new people. Remember if you aren’t meeting new people every day you aren’t building a business.
- Stay away from talking to the same people all the time. If you focus on spending time on adding and creating new relationships this will help you stop wasting time.
Remember, social media is just a tool for building your business. If you are not careful your social media time can be compared to hanging out at a big party all day long chatting about pictures, other people’s trips, kids and pets. Although it’s useful to meet people on a personal level, it is also not enough if you are building a business.
